Harmonize Ex, Jacqueline Wolper credits nanny for her 24M mansion
Bongo movie actress Jacqueline Wolper now claims that the idea to build a house, which cost her Tsh 500 million (Ksh 24 million), came from her house manager. Speaking in a recent interview with Tanzanian journalists, the popular actress explained: "The idea to build a house came from my housemaid. I used to pay her a salary, and she saved up until one day she came to me and said, 'Sister, thank you for your help. I have built a house through your salary.' That's when it hit me that I could also build a house by saving little by little," Wolper says. She said she then started saving, which enabled her to "build a large, beautiful house which might be worth more than Tsh 500 million, although it's not yet finished," she added. Watch part of Wolper house:   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Jackline Wolper (@wolperstylish) The mother of two openly admitted to being estranged from the father of her two children, Rich Mitindo in March. During the launch of Nacharo Ladies Point, Wolper revealed that alleged infidelity had led to the breakdown of their relationship. “Mutual respect between partners is crucial for a happy life,” she said. When questioned about her previous statement regarding forgiving a cheating spouse, Wolper attributed it to being under the influence of alcohol. “I spoke hastily when I mentioned forgiving a cheating spouse while intoxicated. Alcohol isn’t conducive to sound judgment, and I’ve decided to abstain from it,” she clarified. Wolper disclosed receiving reports from fans about Mtindo’s interactions with other women, prompting her to publicly disassociate herself from him. “I want it known that I am not with him, and my reputation should not be linked to Rich Mitindo. Respect should be mutual. Fans should refrain from interfering in our personal affairs,” she added. Wolper requested that her followers avoid reaching out to her regarding Mitindo’s life and whereabouts, pointing out their troubled relationship and his apparent disregard for her feelings. “We may reconcile or part ways altogether, but for now, we’re not on good terms. Please, respect my privacy and refrain from involving me in his affairs,” she concluded. Wolper was initially dating Harmonize.

Gen Z, Here’s why you shouldn’t wear Denim to Maandamano
For over a month now, Kenya's Generation Z has been gaining global attention for being a leaderless movement that continues to go up against perceived bad governance by President William Ruto. The youth have influenced older generations who joined in to call out poor leadership, corruption, extrajudicial killings, unemployment, high cost of living, and over-taxation of people who continue to live below the poverty line. Their efforts bore fruit as seen when President Ruto dissolved his Cabinet, reconstituted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, banned harambees which saw salaried Parliamentarians shell out tens of millions to various highly localized private development projects, ended the budget of the offices of spouses to the President, Deputy President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary as well as drop the controversial Finance Bill 2024 among others. And Gen Z did all these- dressed in their nines. Skinny jeans, ripped jeans, bell bottoms, crop tops, mini skirts, short shorts, sneakers, various styles of bags, and accessories to match. It was a protest to behold as political, social, and fashion statements were made. But dear Gen Z, moving forward, as you prepare to take part in the next maandamano, did you know denim fabric is a poor choice to wear when out protesting for your rights? Here's why... Denim- or Jeans as it is commonly referred to is a very stiff fabric that causes discomfort when a person is overly active and can cause restriction movement. Think of it like this, if you need to run from a tear gas canister shot in your direction, and you are wearing ripped, skinny jeans that often require you to heave it upwards, would you be okay? While you're playing cat-and-mouse games with the anti-riot police, you are overheated and sweating. In this instance, any denim you are wearing will add to your sweating because the fabric is non-breathable. It will not adjust with your body temperatures so you will endure skin irritation and possibly develop skin infections from bacteria and fungi that thrive in such conditions. The rough texture of denim, especially around the armpits, upper arms, waistline, and thighs can cause chafing. This is when the fabric is in constant friction with your skin and you will have abrasions. Is it worth all the self-inflicted injuries to wear denim to Maandamanos then? Also, skinny jeans that lack stretch qualities will probably interfere with your blood flow. The more active you are, your blood flow greatly increases. The blood vessels supplying your muscles with blood widen. If you are in restrictive denim clothing, you are at risk of reducing the oxygen and nutrient delivery to your muscles, increased blood pressure, swelling in certain areas especially the legs and feet, nerve compression, and developing blood clots. The best fabric to wear ahead of the next maandamano is cotton, polyester blends, Merino wool, linen, and Spandex blends. Are we together?

World record-holder Agnes Tirop’s murder documentary to premier
Showmax has released the first trailers for Dark Side of Glory, a true crime documentary series that tells the stories behind shocking cases of murder in the world of sport.  Dark Side of Glory is directed by Arianna Perretta and produced by CMG Productions, who won Best Documentary at the 2023 Broadcast Digital Awards for The Footballer, His Wife and the Crash and were nominated for a 2024 True Crime Award for Football Fraudster.  The first episode, The Durban Axe Murderer: The Rugby Killer, premieres on Showmax on Wednesday, 31 July 2024. The jaw-dropping 76-minute feature documentary follows Joseph Ntshongwana, who played for South Africa at U21 level and for the Blue Bulls between 1998 and 2001. Ten years later, he was arrested for killing four men with an axe and wounding two others. Joseph claimed to be avenging the gang rape and subsequent HIV infection of his daughter - but police found he had no children. "There’s a saying that goes, ‘He couldn’t hurt a fly,’" says his former Blue Bulls teammate, Springbok winger McNeil Hendricks. "It’s hard to believe that Joseph Ntshongwana, as we knew him, had chopped people’s heads off." Other interviews include Captain Rico Naidoo, colonels Jason McGray and Ze-Ev Krein, detective Marius Van Der Looy, former South African Police Service head profiler Dr Gérard Labuschagne, as well as senior state advocate Nadira Moosa, psychiatrist Dr Zuber Moola, rugby journalist Brenden Nel, and key witnesses, among others.  "I felt it was crucial to ensure that the testimonies of the victims and witnesses in The Durban Axe Murderer were heard," says Perretta. "Fikile Mkhwanazi, the partner of murder victim Paulus Hlongwa, sharing her story was particularly powerful." The second episode, Death in the Heartlands, premieres on Showmax on Wednesday, 7 August 2024. The 86-minute feature documentary investigates the murder of three female runners in Kenya in 2021: Edith Muthoni, a day later Agnes Tirop, and six months later Damaris Muthee Mutua. All had allegedly been killed by the men closest to them – their partners or coaches.  Two of the murders happened in the elite-running community of Iten, known as the Home of Champions. Tirop, an Olympian and two-time World Athletic Championship medalist, was found stabbed to death in her home there - soon after clinching a 10,000 m world record in Germany. She would have been a favourite at the upcoming Paris Olympics.  "The culture of elite sport is that we celebrate tunnel vision to pursue our goal. But then we become highly vulnerable," says Yale academic Dr Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu. Other interviews include Directorate of Criminal Investigation inspector Andolo Munga; coach Joseph Cheromei; Agnes’ family and neighbours; and Olympian Viola Cheptoo Lagat, who co-founded Tirop’s Angels to stand in unity against gender-based violence.  "Death in the Heartlands exposes the harsh challenges young, especially female, athletes face and celebrates the resilience and courage of the women who have organised to challenge the culture and system around elite running in Kenya," says Perretta.  "Dark Side of Glory puts the spotlight on the real voices behind these cases, from the relentless Durban police team that brought Joseph Ntshongwana to justice, to the courageous friends and families of Agnes Tirop, Edith Muthoni, and Damaris Muthee, who exposed the exploitation of female athletes," says Perretta. "These are raw, powerful, and shocking stories."
