A pregnant housewife, Jamila Ardo, has been remanded for allegedly kidnapping herself and collecting a ransom from her lover.Ardo, who hails from Wauru Jabbe in the Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, allegedly abducted herself and collected the sum of N2million from Mallam Adamu Ahmed of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.The 25-year-old woman, who allegedly connived with one Abdulaziz to fake her own kidnap to defraud her lover, succeeded in her plot.She was said to have used the proceeds to buy a house.The suspect and Ahmed reportedly fell in love after meeting on Facebook, unknown to the man that he was dealing with a crooked married woman.It was learnt that all through their dating, the duo never had physical contact, but the relationship blossomed as they kept in touch online.Details of the fraud, as contained in the charge sheet indicated how Abdulaaziz, while conniving with Ardo, put a call through to her lover, informing him that she had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom.During negotiation for her release, Adamu was said to have heard Ardo crying, as she pleaded with him on the phone to pay the ransom.Adamu was said to have deposited the money in a bank account with the name, Amina Mohammed.“After sending the money, Adamu was informed by his lover that the kidnappers had released her.“Adamu, however, became suspicious and filed a complaint at the State Investigation Bureau on November 16, 2021,” the charge stated.Detectives subsequently apprehended the owner of the bank account used to collect the ransom, Mohammed.According to Punch, the suspect confessed that her friend, Ardo, requested the account number to receive payment from a friend.Before the bubble burst, Ardo’s husband had queried his wife about her source of income, but she claimed that her relatives sent her money.>

A heartless man who was on the run after strangling his new wife to death at her reaidence in Abuja has been arrested.We earlier reported that Ifeanyi Victor allegedly strangled Evelyn Alifia on February 18, 2022 at their home in Lugbe, Abuja.The pair began dating last year and got engaged in August 2021, just months after.Against the advice of her pastor, Evelyn, a single mother-of-one, chose to be with Ifeanyi.In December 2021, they updated their Facebook friends that they are now married.Evelyn was financially responsible for the family, yet she reportedly suffered abuse and was maltreated by Ifeanyi, who threatened to kill her when provoked.Evelyn began planning to move out of the house when she reportedly found a gun in Ifeanyi's bag on Saturday February 18, 2022.She rang her sister and informed her of her findings and her decision to inform the police.That evening, Ifeanyi allegedly strangled Evelyn and locked her body in their room before running off.He reportedly called Evelyn's family and informed them of their daughter's death. Reports say he ran off with Evelyn's phone and ATM and promised her family that he will return them later.The police recovered Evelyn's decomposing body on Monday, Feb. 21, while Ifeanyi remained on the run.He was eventually captured on Thursday, February 24, while making enquiries about travelling to South Africa.A photo of him, taken just before he was apprehended, shows him smiling on the road with a friend, despite taking his wife's life.>

Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos high court, Ikeja finds Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike (alias Evans) and two of his accomplices - Uche Amadi, and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, guilty of two counts of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.The judge convicted the three men after finding that the state government provided overwhelming evidence to prove it case against them. They we're consequently sentenced to life imprisonment.The three other co-defendants, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba were discharged of the alleged Crimes. President Joe Biden on Thursday announced a new round of sanctions targeting Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, charging that Russian leader Vladimir Putin “chose this war” and that his country will bear the consequences of his action.The sanctions target Russian banks, oligarchs and high-tech sectors, Biden said. The United States and its allies will block assets of four large Russian banks, impose export controls and sanction oligarchs.Biden also said the U.S. will be deploying additional forces to Germany to bolster NATO after the invasion of Ukraine, which is not a member of the defense organization.The penalties fall in line with the White House’s insistence that it would look to hit Russia’s financial system and Putin’s inner circle, while also imposing export controls that would aim to starve Russia’s industries and military of U.S. semiconductors and other high-tech products.“Putin is the aggressor,” Biden said. “Putin chose this war, and now he and his country will bear the consequences.”Biden, for now, held off imposing some of the most severe sanctions, including cutting Russia out of the SWIFT payment system, which allows for the transfers of money from bank to bank around the globe, or Russia’s energy sector.Biden announced the sanctions while Ukraine’s government reported mounting casualties as Russian forces attack from the east, north and south.Biden spoke to Americans from the White House hours after holding a virtual meeting with the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Italy and Japan. A man identified as Wisdom Joseph allegedly strangled his wife identified as Evelyn Alifiya to death in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.A source who narrated the incident stated that after some month into Marriage wisdom moved into his wife’s apartment in lugbe, citing jobless as the reason.Evelyn who is from Kogi state took responsibility for Wisdom’s upkeep, including feeding, clothing and shelter.However, Wisdom who is from Abia state will constantly beat Evelyn and would threaten to take her life.According to reports, Evelyn told his family member about it and they intend to move her out of the house. On Saturday evening she found out that wisdom had a gun in his bag.It was gathered that Evelyn tried to report the incident to her sister so they could both go to the police station and report but unluckily for her wisdom noticed that Evelyn had seen his Gun.Wisdom strangled Evelyn to death with his hands, covered her body with blanket and called Evelyn’s father to come and pick up his daughter’s corpse.The sister of the deceased rushed to the house with some officers of the Nigerian police, they broke down the door and found Evelyn’s dead body.Salemgists gathered that the murderer is currently on the run.>

There was serious panic as early morning fire on Wednesday razed parts of a building at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.However, it is not clear if the fire has affected the main building of the Federal Ministry of Finance.Spokesperson of the Federal Fire Service, Abraham Paul, confirmed the incident, saying that the personnel of the fire service are battling to put out the fire.>
