Fewa Otedola is the only son of one of Nigeria's richest men and CEO of Forte Oil, Femi Otedola. Unlike his sisters, Olawumi, DJ Cuppy and Temi Otedola, Fewa likes to keep things private. Fewa who is autistic is the only male heir to his father's billion dollar fortune. Sharing a personal story about her brother, during World Autism Day few years ago, Temi Otedola revealed how the family have coped with Fewa being autistic.  She wrote on her JTO fashion blog: "I think it’s important to first describe what it is to those of you reading who are less familiar. Essentially, autism is a social development disorder which affects the cognitive, communicative and interactive ability of the brain. People with autism struggle with heightened sensory stimulation and need a lot of attention and support from their parents, teachers and siblings to ensure they can lead the most productive and happy life possible. Raising awareness is not the main goal at this point–understanding is, and even more important–acceptance. So this Autism Awareness Day I ask for all of you, to appreciate, love on, or simply accept those living with autism.In 2004, my mum called my sisters and me into her bedroom. With the composure only a mother can have, she told us that our baby brother, Fewa, had ‘special needs’. While my sisters asked questions, all I could do was think about what this would mean for me, the already overindulged, youngest of three girls.Thankfully, my selfishness quickly wore off and Fewa quickly became the centre of our family. The role of an older sister always entails some sort of responsibility. However, the role of an older sister to an autistic sibling is a great deal more work. At first, it seemed like every day with him was a challenge, especially for my mother. I remember seeing my mum helping Fewa with simple tasks like brushing his teeth, helping him to get dressed, or feeding him lunch, with each day ultimately ending in exhaustion. Our family has been so blessed to have help from carers, but no one can deny the resilience my mother has had raising Fewa. It is the thing I most respect about her.Every day, I see him becoming more independent. Our relationship is becoming less one-sided; I can truly say that we are friends. Fewa doesn’t need anyone’s sympathy. He is the most genuine and caring person I know. This is probably why I have never seen Fewa’s autism as necessarily and totally negative, it is a unique characteristic that adds to the complexity of the person that he is.I am not naïve or unrealistic. I certainly have some gnawing worries about the future. Fewa will always need support of some kind. At age sixteen he still requires 24 hour help. I would say that the biggest misconception about autism is that people who have it are socially inept geniuses – Rain man, anyone? Yes, that is true for some autistic people, but there is a reason the official term is “autism spectrum disorder”. It is a spectrum, and it can range from children who are not able to speak at all to children who can go to normal schools.No matter what I do, I need to build my life with Fewa in mind. My parents won’t be around forever, and his care and well-being will become the responsibility of me and my sisters. It is true that consideration for Fewa will always affect the decisions I make in my life. Despite this, Fewa is by no means a burden. These worries do not reduce the immense love I have for my brother who has brought so much joy and shown me the purest form of love. To quote The Bard, “Love sought is good, but given unsought is better.” It is Fewa’s unconditional love that has shaped me into the woman I am today – a sister, a teacher, a carer and a best friend." >

The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, has demanded N500 million in damages from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged unlawful arrest and detention.Mr Kyari, in an originating motion on notice marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, filed before Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, also sought an order directing the NDLEA to tender a written apology to him in two national dailies.The motion, dated February 16 and filed February 17 by his lawyer, C. O. Ikena, also sought an order “restraining the respondent (NDLEA), its agents, servants, privies, police or anyone acting on their behalf from further harassing, detaining, intimidating and arresting the applicant unlawfully. “An order of this court directing the respondent to pay the sum of N500,000,000.00 (Five Hundred Million Naira) to the applicant (Abba Kyari), for unlawful violation of the applicant’s constitutional right provided for in Sections 35 and 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As Amended).”In the motion to enforce his fundamental rights, Mr Kyari also sought a declaration that his arrest and continued detention by the NDLEA “without bringing him before a court of competent jurisdiction from Feb. 12 till date is illegal, unlawful and a gross violation of his fundamental rights."He said his personal liberty and freedom of movement is guaranteed by Section 35(1) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Article 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act.His prayers read: ”A declaration that announcing the applicant in the press without giving him right to fair hearing nor establishing a prima-facie case against him is illegal, unlawful and an infringement on his fundamental right.“A declaration that declaring the applicant syndicate of the suspect without establishing a prima-facie case against the applicant is unlawful and an infringement on his fundamental right.“A declaration that torture, degrading and inhuman treatment giving the applicant by the agent of the respondent is illegal, unlawful and an infringement on the applicant fundamental human right.“A declaration that refusal to grant administrative bail to applicant on alleged bailable offence is unlawful and infringement on the applicant’s fundamental human right.”>

An adulterous woman and her arrested lover fingered in the murder of her husband have been arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation members.Speaking to journalists on Sunday, February 20, Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said that prime suspect aged 41, who was married to the deceased was arrested at her home in Nebo area by the Hawks assisted by Tactical Response Team members on Friday, February 18.Her accomplice who is reported to be her boyfriend was arrested by the same team at Ga-Mashashane. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased’s wife have a child with her accomplice.On 27 June 2021, the deceased - police Warrant Officer Mogokolodi Cleopas Digama - who was on his way home from work was allegedly attacked and killed by heavily armed suspects in one of the spaza shops in Apel. The suspects reportedly drove off in his vehicle that was later found burned in Madibong village near Sekhukhune.The matter was immediately referred to the Hawks and a massive manhunt for the suspects was launched. Through an intelligence-driven investigation by the police, two first suspects, Mpusheng Titos Malata (31) and Nosky Mabitla (31) were previously arrested in June and July 2021 respectively.Malata and Mabitla were denied bail by the Sekhukhune Magistrates' court and will appear again on 24 February 2022 at the very same court.The deceased’s wife and her accomplice made their first appearance in court on Monday, 21 February 2022 where they face murder charges. >

Suspended Police Officer, Abba kyari has claimed that his health has deteriorated badly since his detention by the National Drug law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.It was gathered that DCP Kyari, a deputy commissioner of Police, dragged the Federal Government to court seeking his release.Recall that Kyari was arrested last week and handed over to the NDLEA over his involvement in high level Cocaine Trafficking.Kyari entered hot water after he attempted to bribe an NDLEA agent with $61,000 to facilitate the release of 17 KG of seized Cocaine. He was arrested alongside four others.In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, Kyari is praying the court to compel the NDLEA to grant him bail on health grounds, pending the hearing and determination of his fundamental right enforcement application.The request was however turned down by the Presiding Judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo who noted that the suit contained some allegations that would require the government's response.“Upon studying the process of the Applicant and averments in support thereon, I am of the opinion that the Respondent should be put on notice”. Justice Ekwo ordered that all the relevant processes should be served on the Federal Government and adjourned the case to February 24th.>

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have foiled attempt by a syndicate to steal at least N2.7 billion from the Nigerian economy by pushing into circulation fake $4.7 million cash.The operatives had in the early hours of Friday 18th February 2022 intercepted a consignment sent from Lagos to Abuja at Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory. A controlled delivery of the parcelled counterfeit US dollars totalling $4,760,000.00 led to the arrest of a principal suspect, 52-year-old Abdulmumini Maikasuwa.The seizure followed intelligence received by the FCT Command of the Agency detailing the movement of the cash and the vehicle conveying it. Meanwhile, Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed that both the cash and the suspect in custody be transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for further investigation. In Kwara state, barely three weeks after a nursing mother, Mrs. Rashidat Adebayo, 38, was granted administrative bail following her arrest for dealing in illicit drugs, operatives have again arrested her in Offa with assorted drugs such as Tramadol, Swinol, Diazepam and Pentazocine injection.Before her latest arrest on Thursday 17th February, the nursing mother had been arrested and granted bail on 24th January 2022 for dealing in similar drugs.>

There is uneasy calm among top officers of the Nigeria Police Force as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) deepens its investigation on the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, and four accomplices who were arrested for involvement in Cocaine racket.Kyari was arrested by the police on Monday for alleged drug trafficking and handed over to the NDLEA along with four others – ACP Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agrigba and John Nuhu.
