Vekee James’ Chic Black Maternity Look Comes with a Beautiful IWD Message for Women
Fashion designer Vekee James is celebrating International Women’s Day with a moment that feels both powerful and deeply personal. Sharing new maternity photos, the designer appeared in a striking sheer black dress that beautifully framed her growing bump. But beyond the fashion moment, Vekee paired the look with a heartfelt message reflecting on the power of women and the incredible ability to nurture life while still shaping the world around them. “Strong enough to grow a human…Soft enough to love endlessly…Powerful enough to change the world.” It is a reminder that womanhood holds many layers, strength, tenderness, resilience, and transformation all at once. And in true Vekee James fashion, she captured that sentiment with both style and grace. Why Anifa Mvuemba Pausing Hanifa Is the Most Powerful Thing She’s Done Yet
In 2011, Anifa Mvuemba posted a photo of a dress she’d made from fabric scraps. She probably wasn’t expecting the outcome when people responded. A year later, in 2012, she officially launched Hanifa, a ready-to-wear womenswear brand named in her own honor, designed from the ground up to celebrate the curves, power, and beauty of […] The post Why Anifa Mvuemba Pausing Hanifa Is the Most Powerful Thing She’s Done Yet appeared first on FabWoman.

Tems Delivers a Polished Performance Look in Ruched Polka Dots at the O2
Singer Temilade Openiyi (Tems) has never not delivered a  memorable fashion moment. For her performance of Raindance alongside Santan Dave at London’s O2 Arena, the Grammy-winning singer stepped out in a look that perfectly captured her signature blend of elegance and quiet drama. The ensemble featured a body-hugging polka dot dress with ruched detailing that accentuated her silhouette, paired with glowing goddess-style glam and statement jewels that elevated the entire moment. Styled by Dunsin Wright, with makeup by Kayla Perez and hair by Remi Laide, the look struck that sweet spot between classic and captivating. It felt polished, confident, and entirely in tune with the powerful energy Tems brings to the stage. Career Growth, Influence, and Visibility: What We Learned from This Week’s BNS Convo
BNS Convos is back every weekend this March for BNS Women’s Month, and we’re bringing together women who are not only doing the work but sharing the knowledge that helps other women thrive. This Saturday, marketing experts Sandra Amachree and Mimi Marcus, each with over 16 years of experience, joined us for an insightful Instagram Live conversation on “Corporate Visibility: The Secret Weapon of High-Achieving Women.” Moderated by Deborah Oludimu, the session unpacked what it truly means to be seen, heard, and recognised in the workplace, and why visibility is often the missing link between great work and real career advancement.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by BellaNaija Style (@bellanaijastyle) Here are some of the key takeaways from the session. Your role is only one part of your valueYour job description does not fully define your impact. High-performing professionals understand the wider business, how different teams function, and where their work fits within the bigger picture. When you grasp the broader goals of the organisation, you position yourself as someone who contributes beyond your immediate responsibilities. Collaboration fuels growthCareer growth rarely happens in isolation. Is Finding the Birthday Dress Nobody Else Has Really That Hard?
Every birthday season, without fail, the complaints start surfacing. ‘I’ve been to three parties and four girls wore the same dress.’ ‘I saw my exact look on someone else’s Instagram the week before my birthday.’ ‘Everything feels so similar.’ The frustration is genuine, but I want to say something that might be slightly controversial: The dress nobody else has exists. You just haven’t been looking for it in the right way, or at the right time. The birthday dress problem is not a fashion problem. It’s a shopping behaviour problem. And the good news about behaviour problems is that they’re entirely fixable. Here’s my honest take as a fashion girl who has watched this conversation play out year after year, season after season. The girlies are not wrong to be frustrated. But the frustration is pointed at the wrong target. The algorithm is not the enemy. Waiting until three weeks before your birthday to care about what you’re going to wear is.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by BellaNaija Style (@bellanaijastyle) We’ve Outsourced Our Taste to the Algorithm and We’re Surprised It Looks the Same Let’s start here because this is the root of it. How to Build a Career That Is Both Beautiful and Sustainable
I ventured into fashion at a time when it was often looked down upon. In secondary school, I was encouraged to focus on science because I excelled at it. I followed that path for a while, but deep down, I knew where my heart truly was. After graduating, I made the decision to pursue fashion wholeheartedly. My mum supported me from the start. My dad needed a little convincing. Among extended family, , opinions were mixed. Some believed fashion was something you simply learned “on the roadside.” I remember moments during holidays when certain relatives would express their disapproval, and I would quietly remove myself from the room. I was that certain about my path. I studied fashion design and graduated top of my class. As a student, I showcased my work in Iceland and Ghana, experiences that expanded my vision of what was possible. Years later, building my brand with intention and consistency, my work has gone on to show on runways from London to Lagos Fashion Weeks and beyond, placing me in rooms and on platforms I once only imagined. Today, I earn at a level that reflects the value of my work and my positioning within my […] The post How to Build a Career That Is Both Beautiful and Sustainable appeared first on BN Style.

Level Up This March: 7 Opportunity Banks for Nigerian Women
Jola Ayeye is famous for many things. But one of her quotes that’s always making rounds is One thing about nigerian Women, we acheive! If there’s one thing Nigerian women are not, it’s without ambition. What’s often missing isn’t the drive, it’s the information. The grants that open and close without enough people knowing. The fellowships that feel like they were written for someone else, until you actually read the eligibility criteria and realise they were written exactly for you. The jobs that get filled before the right person even hears about them. Somewhere between LinkedIn’s noise and the WhatsApp group chat that somehow always shares the link three days after the deadline, a smarter ecosystem has been building. Women, Nigerian women, African women, who got tired of waiting for the information to reach them and decided to become the source themselves. They built newsletters. They curated job boards. They started communities where sharing what you know, when you know it, is treated as something close to a civic duty. We call them opportunity banks and communities where you can actively shop for your next move, on your own terms, at your own pace. This Career Week, we’re spotlighting seven […] The post Level Up This March: 7 Opportunity Banks for Nigerian Women appeared first on BN Style.

Fisayo Longe has never been the type to do anything quietly. From the moment the Gaia dress turned Kai Collective from a fledgling London label into a globally recognised brand, worn by Beyoncé, name-dropped by Vogue, booked and busy, she has operated with the kind of decisive creative confidence that most founders spend years trying to manufacture. The reason this time is called New Money.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by KAI COLLECTIVE (@kaicollective) Kai’s newest collection is built, in their own words, on “power, precision, and self-permission”, designed for women who move with confidence and don’t wait for validation. Workwear-adjacent silhouettes. The kind of clothes you wear when you need a room to understand, before you even open your mouth, exactly who they’re dealing with. And honestly? These Sites Are Your Best Bet for Authentic Skincare in 2026
If you’ve been burned by fake skincare before, and statistically, if you’re shopping online in Nigeria, you probably have, you know the specific heartbreak of receiving a ‘Medicube’s’ moisturiser that smells faintly of industrial cleaner. The Nigerian skincare market has exploded in recent years, which is wonderful, but with growth comes counterfeit risk. Your skin deserves better. The good news is that a new generation of retailers has arrived, built specifically to address the authenticity problem. These platforms have done the work of vetting suppliers, establishing direct brand relationships, and creating transparent customer experiences. Here are the four online platforms we’re currently recommending to anyone serious about their skincare in 2026. Teeka4  Teeka4 has become one of the most trusted names in the Nigerian beauty retail space, and it’s easy to see why. The platform operates on a strict authentication model, every product listed goes through a verification process before it hits the storefront. A core feature to love about Teeka4 is its educational approach. Product listings are detailed, with clear ingredient breakdowns and usage guidance. It’s a platform built for informed shoppers, which means you leave not just with a product but with the knowledge to use it correctly. Hanifa Pauses Production After Months of Operational Stra
Hanifa has announced an indefinite pause on production, following months of operational strain and public scrutiny that intensified after its 2024 Hanifa Friday sale. Customers experienced significant delays tied to manufacturing and fulfillment bottlenecks, exposing the limits of a preorder-heavy model operating at increased scale. While orders were eventually resolved through deliveries and refunds, the situation played out publicly across social media, where complaints about communication and timelines continued long after the logistical issues were addressed.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Hanifa (@hanifaofficial) In posts shared over the last day, founder Anifa Mvuemba framed the decision less as a financial collapse and more as exhaustion with the pace required to keep the brand running. She referenced years of continuous production cycles, personal sacrifices, and the difficulty of managing expansion while navigating new motherhood. The pause, she noted, is intended to create distance from production demands rather than signal a permanent shutdown.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Hanifa (@hanifaofficial) The announcement also reflects a broader tension facing independent fashion labels that scale quickly without conglomerate backing. Increased visibility brings higher order volumes, tighter delivery expectations, and real-time accountability online. Old Money Only: The Looks From Omotola’s Mother’s Love Premiere Had Us Speechless
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde hosted the Lagos premiere of her very first directorial debut, Mother’s Love — a historic milestone for a woman who has spent 30 years commanding our screens and our hearts. The night was already going to be one for the books. The theme was Old Money, and if you know, you know. This is not the dressing of the newly arrived or the loudly minted. It is the woman who doesn’t chase a trend because she is the reference. It is agbada cut so perfectly it could have been inherited. It is jewellery that doesn’t need to introduce itself. The dignitaries set the tone early. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in attendance — and if that doesn’t tell you the calibre of this room, nothing will. The guest list read like a who’s-who of Nigerian society, and they all arrived dressed to honour not just a movie, but a woman who has earned every single one of her flowers.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by BellaNaija (@bellanaija) Omotola herself? Tems Look to he BRITS Award is One for the Books
Some red carpet moments are fashionable. Others are unforgettable. Tems’ appearance at the Brits Awards falls firmly into the latter category. For the night, Temilade Openiyi stepped out in white, which she has been wearing a lot lately. Her makeup was warm as toasty brown tones melted seamlessly into her skin, sculpted, soft, glowing but never overdone, enhancing her already great features. Then there was the hair. Two braided pigtails that added a touch of personality to an otherwise classic palette and reminded us, once again, that Tems never approaches a red carpet conventionally. It was a look.
