My Skin Glowed Up After I Stopped Using All My Skincare Products: Here’s My Take On What Went Wrong
One day, while I was on a bike, I greeted my mother’s friend, but she didn’t reply. When I got home, the woman said she didn’t recognise me because my complexion had changed. I would have thought she was being malicious, but she wasn’t the first person to comment on my skin changing, and not for the better. If you’re anything like me, you get skincare recommendations from social media and friends. I didn’t have any specific skin condition, but I wanted my skin to have that healthy glow. So, I decided to expand my skincare routine. I added a new mist toner, an oil promising to reduce fine lines, an eye cream, and a moisturiser. For two months, I religiously applied these products morning and night. However, I noticed my hyperpigmentation worsened. My face only felt oily and sweaty throughout the day, and there was absolutely no true glow in sight. I spent a lot of time thinking about the potential cause. Since I had just purchased several new skincare items, it was nearly impossible to pinpoint which one was the culprit. I decided to go back to basics and only use my trusted sunscreen, which I had been […] The post My Skin Glowed Up After I Stopped Using All My Skincare Products: Here’s My Take On What Went Wrong appeared first on BN Style.

Davido’s Outfit For Asa Asika And Leona’s Wedding Was Rooted In Meaning And Deep Friendship
Davido was the perfect groomsman for his friend and manager, Asa Asika, who celebrated his traditional wedding to Leona Adesanya over the weekend. Davido also delivered a moving and tear-jerking speech, expressing his deep love for Asa and how Leona has positively transformed Asa’s life. For this special occasion, Davido’s outfit beautifully blended Yoruba and Igbo cultural elements. His sokoto, or trousers, displayed a distinctly Yoruba style with their loose fit and length above the ankles, which he paired with a buba. Adding an Igbo touch, he wore a red cap traditionally associated with the Igbo culture and a customised chieftaincy fan inscribed with “OBO,” his popular nickname meaning “Omo Baba Olowo” (“son of a rich man”). Completing his stylish look were red mules and jewellery featuring diamonds and red coral beads. However, perhaps the most significant detail was a medallion with the inscription “LEA” subtly placed at the back of his kaftan, a heartfelt tribute to Leona and Asa and a display of his support and love for the couple. The Iro and Buba Renaissance: Why This Classic Style Will Never Go Out Of Style
One thing I live for is comebacks; it’s always nice to see something awesome that has been in the shadows come back to life in colourful ways. But the Iro and Buba never actually disappear; it’s always in the corner, waiting to make a renaissance. Around 2012, it came back as ‘Oleku’, but truthfully, our mothers have never stopped wearing them. These days, young ladies are catching on, and some are even wearing their mothers’ iro and buba. We have been and still are in the corset era in all its variations; cinched waists, beadings, and elaborate sleeves are the order of the day, and no doubt, they are stunning. However, these days, there is a quiet defiance against this trend, with people craving the iro and buba. It’s a traditional Yoruba clothing; the words iro and buba mean wrapper and blouse. The cultural aspect adds to its enduring quality. It is a part of our identity, which is why at festivals like the Ojude Oba, the corset takes a back seat, and iros and bubas come out in their glory. This style, though simple, makes the wearer appear larger than they actually are since it is mostly oversized and thus gives an air of magnanimity. Revamp Your Braids: How To Keep Braided Hairstyles Looking Fresher And Lasting Longer
Getting braids always seems like a great idea, and it is! They look so great, you almost forget the hours spent getting them done. However, after that long process, you definitely want to avoid your hair looking rough and frizzy after just a week. So, what maintenance tips do hairstylists swear by for keeping your braids in top condition? Essential Braid Care Tips Hydrate Your Scalp Maintain a healthy scalp and natural hair by creating a hydrating mist of tea tree oil, lavender, and water. Spray this mixture on your scalp at least once a day. This will prevent dryness, dandruff, and bacterial buildup while also moisturising the roots and reducing breakage of your natural hair. Protect Your Braids at Night To prevent dryness and frizz caused by bed friction, wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf or bonnet every night. This also helps to keep new natural hair growth from becoming puffy at the roots. Consider using a silk or satin pillowcase for added protection and longevity of your braids.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Adanna. Bar Soap, Body Wash, or Shower Gel? Which Is Best For You?
Is there any real difference between a body wash, bar soap, or shower gel, apart from the obvious difference that two are liquids while one is solid? Can you use three of them, or is just one enough? If so, which is best? The main purpose of the three is to remove dirt from the skin’s surface that builds up from perspiration, environmental contaminants, and to renew skin cells, but how do they differ? What’s the difference Between Bar Soap, Body Wash, or Shower Gel? Bar soap works by dissolving and breaking down the greasy coating of dirt, sweat, and natural oils that the body produces. It protects you against numerous diseases caused by bacteria and germs by removing dead skin, which provides the perfect habitat for microorganisms. Body wash works in the same way that bar soap does by removing the greasy or oily layer and cleansing the skin of bacteria and contaminants. However, body wash frequently contains mild chemicals that can help the skin regain its moisture balance and reduce clogged pores. Shower gel, on the other hand, removes oil and dirt from the skin without adding any moisturising agents that would otherwise make the skin regain its […] The post Bar Soap, Body Wash, or Shower Gel? Mercy Atang, Toyin Lawani & the Million Safety Pins That Ruled the 11th AMVCA Carpet
When it comes to the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), fashion is as much about glamour as it is about statements, stories, and symbolism. At the 11th edition of the AMVCA, Mercy Atang made the timeline buzz with her audacious, art-meets-fashion moment. She was draped in a custom creation by Toyin Lawani that was woven from a million golden safety pins. Yes, you read that right. Safety pins. Tiannah’s Empire, the brainchild of the ever-daring Toyin Lawani, is no stranger to unconventional couture. But this look took avant-garde to a new level. Every inch of Mercy’s dramatic shoulder details, and fringed sleeves dress sparkled with meticulously arranged golden safety pins. And the headpiece? A crown of rosettes and structured embellishments. Mercy’s look at the AMVCA 2025 will no doubt go down in the books as one of the night’s most memorable ensembles. It was daring. It was disruptive. It was memorable. The post Mercy Atang, Toyin Lawani & the Million Safety Pins That Ruled the 11th AMVCA Carpet appeared first on BN Style.

You’ve Got To See How Tola and Enado’s Traditional Wedding Outfits Were Steeped in Culture and Style
Tola and Enado Odunsi‘s traditional wedding took place last weekend in the ancient city of Benin, and it was a celebration of love rooted in culture. The ceremony brought together two cultures—Bini and Yoruba—and their outfits on that beautiful occasion told a clear story of love and unity.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Enado Odunsi 😂 (@iamenado) For their first look, the couple embraced Bini tradition. Enado wore a red velvet gown by Emagine by Bukola, designed in the classic silhouette of a Bini bride. It was beaded leaf motifs that adorned the dress, but the focal point was the coral jewellery: layered beads worn across her neck, wrists, and head as a crown.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Enado Odunsi 😂 (@iamenado) In her Instagram caption, Enado spoke about the meaning of the crown on her head. “The Okuku on a bride’s head is not just decorative. The lips are typically soft pink or nude, and the eyebrows should be full and lashes fluffy.
